Commercial Property Claims Handler - Galway

New career opportunity for a qualified Claims Handler to join our Property Claims Team in our Galway office.  This Property Claims Handler will be involved in handling standard cases using agreed claims processes to achieve settlement and business objectives. 

You will spend most of your time managing customer interactions, liaising with suppliers, replacing and supplying appropriate goods and services, escalating nonstandard or complex cases, supporting more qualified colleagues and reviewing policy wordings. 

You will be dealing with customers and third parties on a one to one basis, although you will also work with other colleagues and be part of a team. You will have strong communication, negotiation and organisation skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing allocated cases and achieving settlement, within designated personal authority level, in line with established standards, procedures and guidance provided.
  • Identifying non-standard or complex claims and escalating to more qualified colleagues to ensure they are handled appropriately.
  • Managing customer interactions in an efficient, courteous and timely manner in order to deliver high standards of customer satisfaction.
  • Organising and using approved internal and/or external suppliers to ensure repair, replacement and supply of appropriate goods and services to customers.
  • Supporting more experienced colleagues in the handling of non-standard cases.
  • Contributing to the production of new policy wordings or reviews of existing policy wordings to ensure policy documentation is current and accurate.

Regulatory Requirements:

  • This role falls within scope of the Minimum Competency Code (MCC) and includes a responsibility to directly manage or supervise other in-scope roles. This role requires the jobholder to have attained the status of ‘Qualified Person’ in the relevant function(s) i.e. i.e. personal lines, commercial lines and claims, or have a Statement of Grandfathered Status in the relevant function(s). The status of ‘Qualified Person’ can be achieved through attaining the qualification of Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP), Accredited Product Advisor (APA or Associate or Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII or FCII). The jobholder must also comply with all CPD requirements as outlined in the MCC.
  • This role is subject to the Fitness and Probity Standards (“The Standards”), issued under Section 50 of the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 and any subsequent amendments. The role holder must ensure they are fully aware of the Standards and in a position to fully comply with them at all times
