Data Analysis -  MI Manager (Internal applicants only)

RSA is building an industry leading and best in class Data Analytics function and we are looking to further strengthen our growing team. The Management Information (MI) Manager will lead a team of 4 Business Facing Analysts and offshored MI activities and report to the Head of Data & Analytics.  The individual will have strong communication skills backed by solid technical capability.  Proven experience successfully managing the delivery of Management Information across multiple business functions is a requirement.

The predominant focus of the role is managing and delivering analyses, but you will also interface with the Business at a senior level ensuring that they have all the Data, MI and Analytics required for them to operate at a best in class level.  In addition to your team’s own ground up analyses you will leverage the newly created technical capability of the Data Analytics team and its central Data infrastructure.  It will be very important that Business expectations are set and that service levels are maintained.  You will work in a team environment and will have personal responsibility for meeting the expectations of internal customers. 

The ideal candidate will be curious, ambitious, hands on and solution delivery focused.  You will have worked previously in a similar role, some management experience is preferred, and proven yourself to be a trusted provider of analyses, insights and guidance to Business stakeholders.  You will have had significant exposure to data capture, processing and usage.  Your analytical approach will be rigorous and your outputs best in class.

Ability to work in cross-departmental project teams with adaptability and flexibility to achieve organisational goals. Excellent communication skills including the ability to interact effectively at all levels, both internally and externally

 

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Management

  • Engage with stakeholders (business and IT) through the entire organisation:
  • Leverage business acumen to transform business requests into addressable solutions
  • Systematically capture and formalise business requirements including delivery timescales to ensure insights are best in class
  • Identifying analytics projects and business improvement opportunities
  • Understand business context and value derived from the various cases undertaken
  • Ensuring service levels are achieved and maintained
  • Provide a high level of visibility to the business on the team deliveries and associated ROI/Impacts
  • Support the development of the data champion operating model in the business departments to ensure optimal use of MI - Raise Data Analytics knowledge and expertise across the Company
  • Support the development of the data culture by promoting data analytics and data visualisation best practices and innovations.

Team and People Management

  • Managing a team of c.4 people and offshored MI activities:
  • Pro-actively manage the capacity and performance of the team (roadmap, PI, sprint planning)
  • Identify the team’s individual talents and abilities. Harness full potential by setting up and implement individual development plan. Recognise and promote team and individual deliveries
  • Providing advice, guidance and coaching more junior colleagues
  • Design budget model for own area:
  • Contribute to the annual budget definition
  • Track actual VS forecast
  • Report and justify potential variances
  • Forecast future needs
  • Pro-actively identify, propose, and discuss with the manager areas of improvement of the operating model on BAU activity and projects workflows

MI / Analytics / Insights delivery

  • Accountable for the delivery of the MI team (BAU and projects)
  • Manage the definition, build, delivery and presentation of Management Information (BAU and projects) - working with the members of the team as well as external resources
  • Work collaboratively with the Data DevOps team to ensure new and existing systems provide:
  • accurate, timely, insightful and focused MI
  • in a flexible, easy to access and use interface
  • Support the engineering of the data pipeline to prepare the necessary data
  • Identify and manage alerts and risks on all processes and projects under responsibility
  • Information System Modernization: Continuous improvement to support the decommissioning of legacy system and processes
  • Support the definition and implementation of the analytics roadmap as the organisation Data and AI Strategy is developed further.

Requirements:

  • 2 - 4 years in a similar role
  • Demonstrate a clear passion to lead, develop and grow a team
  • Proven experience as an Analyst providing high value add outputs to Business stakeholders is required
  • Quantitate degree required (Math’s, Physics, Engineering, Data, Analytics) with a minimum result of 2.1
  • Insurance experience required
  • Programming experience is mandatory, VBA, SAS and SQL experience are strongly preferred
  • Significant experience on advanced analytics & insights projects.
  • Expertise on Data Warehousing / Data Visualisation / Analytics solutions architecture
