Data Governance Analyst

RSA is building an industry leading Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence. We are looking to further strengthen our growing team.

The team is tasked with providing Data, MI and Analytics to all business functions of the organisation and for overseeing and managing Enterprise Data Governance. 

The selected candidate will be expected to bring knowledge to this critical business function and will operate within the existing Data Governance structures – i.e., Data Governance Forum, Data Owners, Stewards, Custodians and Data Citizens.

The predominant focus of the role is to ensure that the integrity of RSA Data is maintained by contributing to the design, implementation, and management of the enterprise data governance program. These include reporting, documentation management, governance execution, data quality and lineage related activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder Management
  • Engage with data stakeholders across the organisation:
  • Business functions:
  • Support the Data Owners on the management of their Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
  • Provide support, advice and guidance
  • Support as appropriate the Head of Data Governance in the animation of the Data & Analytics community
  • Data governance forum (DGF) and senior management
  • Collaborate with DGF members to receive and understand Group policy updates
  • Provide a high level of visibility on the team deliveries
  • Data & Analytics: engage with the MI and DataOps teams to support them in achieving compliance toward the Data Management Policy for every solution implemented
  • Wider ITS function and Line 2 / DPO: leverage the expertise and secure contribution to data dependant workstreams (Data Protection, InfoSec, IT compliance, Digital, Cloud services)
  • Support the delivery of Data Governance Program initiatives

The data governance programme is structured around the following pillars:

Governance & Strategy

  • Maintain the assessment framework for identifying Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and present any change to the DGF for sign off
  • Measure and document the value delivered by data management initiatives and report the results to all stakeholders (DGF and business).

Ownership

  • Support the data owners in documenting critical data processing activities including the associated controls for data quality.
  • Ensure the data semantic layer (meta data based set of business definitions) is maintain up to date - based on data owners inputs. This includes the classification on sensitivity, confidentiality, integrity and availability dimensions.
  • Maintain the technical and functional lineage for all CDEs

Quality

  • Work with data owners to define the data quality dimensions for all CDEs: appropriateness, completeness, accuracy, uniqueness, timeliness, validity, consistency, accessibility, lineage.
  • Monitor the quality and integrity of data as it pertains to the business outcomes.
  • Ensure and support proper application of the data quality remediation strategy (remediation at source)

Retention.

  • Liaise with the ITS change delivery teams to ensure the data retention solution are maintained at an operational level for 123.ie and RSAI.
  • Liaise with the data protection office to ensure alignment of the operational solutions to the latest version of the Data Retention Schedules.

 

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years in a similar role (data governance or data protection)
  • Previous experience working in a regulatory environment. Experience in Financial Services industry would be a strong advantage
  • Stakeholder management - Ability to influence stakeholders, peers and subordinates to support the adoption of data governance policies.
  • Awareness of the security, data protection, ethics and quality requirements
  • Agile project management skills
  • Understanding of how data is used within business processes and its impact on desired business process outcomes.
  • Technical data knowledge – previous exposure to data management applications and tooling
