Head of Northern Ireland Claims 

Jobs like this involve leading several claims teams to deliver the claims service in an effective, cost-efficient way in line with business needs and performance expectations.  You will spend much of your time developing and implementing operational plans, monitoring and reporting business performance, managing stakeholder relationships and guiding and developing your teams and team leaders.

You will lead a team of Technical Claims Managers driving the achievement of financial targets and ensuring effective management of the NI Claims team.  You will be working with your team leaders on a daily basis and also spending considerable time with other Claims Managers.

You will have experience of developing business plans and be an experienced leader with a good knowledge of claims, strong relationship building & communication skills.   

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and managing (team/department/unit) business operations and resources in line with agreed performance targets, service standards, budgets and wider business and change objectives
  • Monitoring team/department/unit operational and financial performance and take timely and appropriate action to address issues arising.
  • Managing the implementation of Best Practice and Claim Management strategies in NI to control claims indemnity spend.
  • Management of Claims Supply Chain in NI and supplier arrangements.
  • Overseeing the provision of technical support, guidance and challenge to NI Claims Operations and the business
  • Leading, managing and coaching the team of Claims Team Managers to ensure capability development in line with current and future business requirements
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with other business areas and functions in order to maximise the effective operation of the team/department/unit.
  • Agreeing and organising the production and reporting of business information required to support and inform other business areas and activities e.g. on claims trends and tactics
  • Contributing to the development of claims strategy for NI across Damage, Injury and Liability Claims Classes
  • Supporting and encouraging the identification and implementation of appropriate new and/or better ways of doing things so as to improve service and/or efficiency.
  • Maintaining an effective and proportionate business control environment in line with internal policy and material external legislative and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Recruiting, managing, coaching, developing and motivating the team/department/unit to ensure delivery of the required standards of performance now and in the future.
  • Contributing to and co-operating with audits and reviews, as required to support and enable the maintenance of an effective control environment.
  • Enhancing and improving the Claims customer experience through continuous improvement of Claims Service.
  • Delivering change to drive forward the claims Outperformance agenda
  • Building and maintaining close working relationships with other key functions such as Actuarial Reserving, Underwriting
  • Having a working knowledge of the markets in which RSA operate including Broker key customer relationships
  • Key role in cross functional forums e.g., Reserving Cycle, QBR, CBR, Consumer risk

 

Requirements:

  • To maintain effective organisation & resourcing of the team.
  • To identify & maximise opportunities for the profitable development of the business through involvement in new business pitches.
  • To have a full understanding of relevant legislation and market agreements / developments.
  • To always adhere to Claims Best Practice.
  • To hold or progress towards the ACII qualification
  • Proficiency required in claims handling applications and Microsoft Office.
  • Complete the appropriate annual CPD requirement as defined by the Financial Regulator and / or the professional body to which you are affiliated.
  • To help shape & deliver Claims strategy
  • Contribute to the overall company strategy
