Business Data Analyst

RSA is developing an industry leading Data & Analytics function. We are looking to further strengthen our growing team. The Business Analyst will join a team of 4 Business Facing Analysts and offshored MI and BI activities. The Business Analyst will report to the Head of MI & Analytics. 

The individual will have strong communication skills backed by solid technical capabilities.  Proven experience successfully managing the delivery of Management Information and Business Intelligence across multiple business functions is a requirement.

The predominant focus of the role is the delivery of Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytics solutions in an agile context. The role requires to interface with most business functions at all seniority level. The main objective is to ensure that they have all the Data, MI and Analytics Insights required for them to operate optimally.

The Business Data Analyst will leverage the newly created technical capabilities of the Data Analytics team and its central Cloud Data Infrastructure.  It will be critical that Business expectations are set and that service levels are maintained.  In this role, you will work in a team environment and will have personal responsibility for managing the expectations of internal customers.

The ideal candidate will be rigorous, curious, ambitious, hands on and solution delivery focused. 

Regular business trips will be organised to meet key stakeholders in RSA Ireland offices (Dublin, Galway and Belfast).

 

Key Responsibilities:

Stakeholder management

  • Engage with stakeholders (business and IT) through the entire organisation.
  • Engage with stakeholders on a regular basis to
  • Actively contribute to the MI & Analytics team agile ceremonies (daily stand up, backlog refinement, sprint review, sprint planning)
  • Provide a high level of visibility on the value delivered by the team leveraging all communication channels available (ITS huddles, ITS all hands, Organisation engagement platforms: MS Teams, Spotlights and Workvivo, various events organised in the office throughout the year)
  • Engage with line manager and senior members of the team to foster a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Act as Data Custodian to support the business in using the data capabilities in order to
  • Understand business context and value derived from the various cases undertaken
  • Capture and formalise stakeholders’ requirements
  • Develop business acumen to transform business requests into addressable solutions
  • Ensure operational efficiency​ - Work collaboratively with the Data Engineering team to ensure optimal data provisioning
  • Identify and raise alerts and risks on all initiatives under responsibility
  • Ensure and maintain the compliance of all solution delivered to applicable policies and regulations

 

Support the development of Data Literacy across the organisation by

  • promoting analytics and data visualisation best practices
  • ensure use of a common data language
  • align stakeholders understanding of data assets and data capabilities
  • ensure ethical data handling within the organisation including commitment to privacy regulations, data protection, and ethical use of customer information.

MI and Business Intelligence Reporting:

  • Create compelling dashboards and reports for stakeholders. Visualize key performance indicators (KPIs), track portfolio performance, and highlight areas for improvement. Your communication skills will bridge the gap between data and actionable insights.
  • Be prepared for dynamic requests. Whether it’s evaluating the impact of regulatory changes or assessing market shifts.

 

Business Processes and Customer Journey Mapping

  • Map out and understand customer journeys, from quote requests to claims processing. Understand pain points, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement. Your insights will drive customer-centric enhancements, ensuring a second to none experience for policyholders.

 

Data Governance and Quality Assurance

  • Uphold data integrity and quality standards. Contribute to the implementation of the governance frameworks, ensure data completeness and accuracy, and collaborate with IT teams to ensure reliable data sources. High attention to detail will be critical in maintaining trustworthy analytics.

 

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year in a similar role
  • Quantitate or Business Management degree required (NFQ level 8 and above)
  • Experience as a data analyst providing high value outputs to business stakeholders
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure technology stack (PowerBI, Synapse, Databricks, Fabric)
  • Understanding of Data Warehousing / Data Visualisation / Analytics solutions architecture
  • Previous experience in the Insurance Industry would an advantage

 

Regulatory Requirements:

  • If this role is defined as a "controlled function" by the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 Regulations 2011. Any appointment will be conditional on the company being satisfied that you meet the requirements as set out in the Fitness & Probity standards issued in this Act.
