 Trainee Financial Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Finance Analyst to join our team and support the IT function. The candidate will be responsible for processing invoices and providing ad-hoc support to the team in financial reporting tasks delivery. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the financial integrity and efficiency of the IT department’s operations.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Invoice Processing.
    • Capitalisation and depreciation workings for IT spend.
    • Accruals accounting for IT services and variance analysis and spend against plan.
    • Assisting with the IT financial plan.
    • Create Purchase Orders on PO365 system for Project Managers upon request.
    • Processing handoff’s from Project managers for month end reporting.
    • Review, validate, and process IT-related invoices.
    • Ensure invoices are accurately coded and recorded in the financial system, mapping between Opex and Capex.
    • Liaise with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve any invoice discrepancies.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with IT, Finance, and Procurement teams to ensure alignment and accuracy of financial data.
    • Work closely with the IT PMO Team to support the Change Delivery function.
    • Participate in regular meetings with stakeholders to discuss financial performance, forecasts, and budgets.
    • Working as a Finance Business partner to IT.

The ideal candidate will be providing further ad-hoc support in producing financial reports for project forecasts/expenditure.

  • Financial Reporting support:
    • Support the preparation and maintenance of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to the IT department.
    • Assist in the preparation of budget vs. actual analysis, highlighting key variances.
    • Provide data and analysis to support IT cost management and financial planning.
    • Provide support on financial data analysis and developing insights and recommendations based on financial data to support decision-making.

 

  • Support for Project Managers:
    • Assist IT project managers with monthly finance extracts and ensure timely submission.
    • Maintain and update financial trackers for all IT projects.
    • Provide support on financial queries related to ongoing and planned IT projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a similar role.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge in financial reporting tools (e.g., SAP).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data processing.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with various teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting IT functions or working in a tech environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with IT terminology and project management tools (e.g., JIRA) is a plus.
