Unique Career Opportunities to lead the Insights & Control team.  This job as Head of Insights & Control will involve leading and mentoring a team in the analysis of claims performance and the development, implementation and monitoring of market-leading claims control solutions.

This job will involves influencing and building substantial claims strategies to ensure claims insurance risk is considered and effectively handled. You will work with your team and across Claims and the wider organisations, both locally and globally, to ensure the risk framework is embedded and risks are being handled across RSAII and RSANI claims in line with risk appetite.

You will spend your time providing a high level of technical, financial and analytical expertise and leadership, and acting as the source of knowledge and expertise for the control of indemnity spend expense and management of insurance risk across claims.

You will provide leadership to the team to ensure key risks to delivery of claims objectives are identified and proportionate mitigating governance, controls, monitoring and reporting are in place.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysis of trends in claims to support technical teams in actions and decision-making
  • Growing the depth of technical performance across RSA Claims Operations.
  • Developing claims risk and control strategies and plans
  • Monitoring, challenge and support of processes to identify, assess, document and handle claims risks
  • Being a key contact for GIA, Risk, Financial Control and Regulatory Compliance including collaborating with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • Developing and driving the implementation of claims review and audit plans, methodologies and supporting delivery against business targets
  • Independent monitoring of Claims Saving Initiative performance
  • Managing expenses and costs across RSA Ireland Claims to remain within budget
  • Recruiting, managing, mentoring, developing and motivating the Claims Insight & Control department to ensure delivery of the required standards of performance now and in the future.

Requirements:

  • 5 Year’s plus in Claims would an advantage
  • Skilled in analysing complex problems and using structured decision-making techniques.
  • Strong verbal written and communication skills with the ability to relate complex problems
  • Ability to think critically, and strategically to develop practical solutions.
  • Strong business insight and adept at establishing partnerships and forming relationships.
  • Comply with the requirements of the Consumer Protection Code and the Data Protection Code.
  • This role is subject to the Fitness and Probity Standards (“The Standards”) , issued under Section 50 of the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 and any subsequent amendments. The role holder must ensure they are fully aware of the Standards and in a position to fully comply with them always.
  • This role falls within scope of the Minimum Competency Code (MCC) and includes a responsibility to directly manage or supervise other in-scope roles. This role requires the jobholder to have attained the status of ‘Qualified Person’ in the relevant function(s) i.e. i.e. personal lines, commercial lines and claims, or have a Statement of Grandfathered Status in the relevant function(s). The status of ‘Qualified Person’ can be achieved through attaining the qualification of Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP), Accredited Product Advisor (APA or Associate or Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII or FCII). The jobholder must also comply with all CPD requirements as outlined in the MCC.
